who we are

dive centre
From the very beginning we decided on a policy of diving in small groups so as to be able to provide individual attention to our divers – no “cattle diving” for us, we want to enjoy our diving too. We also realised that you, our customers, dislike hidden costs as much as we do, so we have always made sure that our price lists do not contain any “hidden surprises”. So for example, unlike most other dive centres, our PADI course prices include the cost of PADI materials. What started as a small operation soon grew into a fully equipped dive center able to cater for recreational and technical divers.

Our members

Derek Chircop

Hi, my name is Derek Chircop and I would like to welcome you to our little bit of Malta on the Web. I have been diving since I was 11 years old – not surprising as my father was a commercial diver in the 1960’s. I have been an instructor for over 32 years. I hold senior instructor qualifications with PADI, CMAS, IANTD to name a few. To date I have logged over 29,000 dives of which 22,000 in Malta and I still love it! You can be assured I will know how to get the best out of Malta’s 200 dive sites for your diving holiday. It is a great feeling when people return year after year to dive with me and the Scubatech team, often becoming good friends along the way.

Marion de Water

Hi, my name is Marion. I have been diving since 1991, first CMAS, later I became a PADI diver. And since 2019 an Open Water Instructor. I have been diving in several places, but mostly in Malta. Diving in Malta never bores me, always different things to see and discover. I love teaching other people to enjoy the underwater life. I work part time at Scubatech, because I work as a nurse as well. Diving however has my preference, so when I can, I make time for diving. Diving is Fun! Hope to see you at Scubatech one day and give you the time of your life under water!

Douwe Cramer

Hello everyone! My name is Douwe and I’m originally from the Netherlands. I became a PADI Open Water Diver in 1996 in Phuket and I have been diving ever since all over Thailand and the Philippines, in Indonesia, in Australia, Mauritius and now in Malta. Over the years I have also taken up technical diving and I am a TDI Extended Range diver and have done a number of wreck dives up to 55 meters depth. Technical diving has become another passion. In 2019 I decided to step out of corporate life and make diving my profession, first in the Philippines and since 2020 in awesome Malta. I am now a PADI instructor and specialty instructor and a partner in Scubatech Diving Centre.

Jack

My name is Jack and I learnt to dive in the UK in 2013. I did my divemaster course in 2015, came to malta to gain experience in the industry for 2016 and fell in love with the job. I did my instructor course in November 2016 and have lived in Malta teaching diving since! I absolutely love this island not only for the diving but also the history! Sometimes you may notice I get a bit over excited before the diving, however I guarantee you that as soon as we are half a meter under the water, we are going to have an amazing time! I hope to see you soon!
