Who We Are
From the very beginning we decided on a policy of diving in
small groups so as to be able to provide individual attention to
our divers – no “cattle diving” for us, we want to enjoy our diving too.
We also realised that you, our customers, dislike hidden costs as much
as we do, so we have always made sure that our price lists do not contain
any “hidden surprises”. For example, unlike most other dive centres, our course
prices include the cost of all learning materials and certification. What started as a small operation soon grew into a fully equipped dive center able to cater for recreational and technical divers alike, teaching courses from SDI, TDI, PADI and CMAS.

Hi, my name is Derek Chircop and I would like to welcome you to our little bit of Malta on the Web. I have been diving since I was 11 years old – not surprising as my father was a commercial diver in the 1960’s. I have been an instructor for over 32 years. I hold senior instructor qualifications with PADI, CMAS, IANTD to name a few. To date I have logged over 29,000 dives of which 22,000 in Malta and I still love it! You can be assured I will know how to get the best out of Malta’s 120+ dive sites for your diving holiday. It is a great feeling when people return year after year to dive with me and the Scubatech team, often becoming good friends along the way.

Hello everyone! My name is Douwe and I’m originally from the Netherlands although, before moving to Malta, I have lived most of my life in Asia. I became an Open Water Diver in 1996 in Phuket and I have been diving ever since all over Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Mauritius and now in Malta. Over the years I have also taken up technical diving and I am a Normoxic Trimix diver and have done a number of dives up to 65 meters depth. In 2019 I decided to step out of corporate life in Hong Kong and make diving my profession, first in the Philippines and since 2020 in awesome Malta. I am now a PADI, SDI and TDI instructor and specialty instructor and a partner in Scubatech Diving Centre.

Hello divers! My name is Matthew Abela, and I began my dive career in August of 2018. I have been diving with Scubatech since then, and in 2022, I completed my Divemaster course. My home, Malta, is a place filled with history, culture, and natural beauty, but when I see it from underwater, it is a whole new world. I have been in love with the sea since I was a boy. Come to Scubatech Diving Centre, where we promise you the experience of a lifetime, with some fun and laughter as well.

Hi, my name is Marion. I have been diving since 1991, first CMAS, later I became a PADI diver. And since 2019 an Open Water Instructor. I have been diving in several places, but mostly in Malta. Diving in Malta never bores me, always different things to see and discover. I love teaching other people to enjoy the underwater life. I work part time at Scubatech, because I work as a nurse as well. Diving however has my preference, so when I can, I make time for diving. Diving is Fun! Hope to see you at Scubatech one day and give you the time of your life under water!

My name is Jack and I learnt to dive in the UK in 2013. I did my divemaster course in 2015, came to Malta to gain experience in the industry for 2016 and fell in love with the job. I did my instructor course in November 2016 and have lived in Malta teaching diving since! I absolutely love this island not only for the diving but also the history! Sometimes you may notice I get a bit over excited before the diving, however I guarantee you that as soon as we are half a meter under the water, we are going to have an amazing time! I hope to see you soon!
